The Saint Francis Physician Assistant faculty recognized their alumni and guests in a special celebration at Brookside Ballroom on Oct. 26. This was an opportunity for the alumni to share their professional experiences and observe their impact in the healthcare field.
The evening’s highlight was honoring Dr. Jeffrey Easley with the Tom Hunter Distinguished Teaching & Service Award. This award recognizes an individual for his or her contribution to Saint Francis through teaching, mentorship and service to the profession and community. His nomination said, “Dr. Easley embodies the mission of the University of Saint Francis and the Physician Assistant Program. He is passionate about medical missions, serving regularly in the Grabill Christian Community Health Care clinic, and accompanying students on five trips to Haiti, a month-long trip to Guatemala in 2023 with Manchester University and a trip to Guatemala with PA students in spring 2024. In his humility, he would prefer to go unrecognized. However, his exceptional service, leadership and mentorship cannot go unnamed.”
To honor Dr. Easley further, a student award was created. “The Heart of Service Award,” inspired by Dr. Easley’s dedication, service and work, will be awarded to a student each year starting with the class of 2025. This student will embody a willingness to go above and beyond in service learning and will embrace an attitude of servant leadership and a spirit of perseverance.
