The President’s Art Gala featured the Rick Cartwright Retrospective Exhibition at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center on Sept. 7. Saint Francis alumni, employees, students and members of the community enjoyed a presentation by Gallery Director Justin Johnson (BA ’99, MA ’12), live music and refreshments.
Cartwright (1951-2023) was a member of the Saint Francis faculty from 1975 to 2017, and the founding dean of the School of Creative Arts in 2004, serving until his retirement in 2017. The Rick Cartwright Retrospective Exhibition, which runs through Oct. 13, displays five decades of his work in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, digital imaging and found object sculpture. This exhibition reflects not only Cartwright’s creative output but also his dedication to teaching.
The exhibit is at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
