FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts will host the Emmy-winning, Grammy, Tony and Drama Desk Award-nominated arranger/composer, music producer/director and singer/songwriter Rob Mathes.
Mathes will be on the USF campus from April 9 through 12 to work with the student-run record label, Marble Lounge Records, as they finish producing their first album with the local Fort Wayne Americana band, Rosalind & The Way. Rob will personally produce two selected songs from the band to include on the album.
A powerhouse in the music industry, Rob Mathes has worked with Sting, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, U2, Beyoncé, Panic at The Disco, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, Yo Yo Ma, Elton John, Tony Bennett, Celine Dion, Tim McGraw, Lou Reed, Mavis Staples, Jay Z, Lenny Kravitz, Sade, Eric Clapton, Avril Lavigne, Beck, Aretha Franklin, Hall and Oates, Harry Connick Jr., Fall Out Boy, Butch Walker, Mariah Carey, Renée Fleming, and Luciano Pavarotti. Most recently, Rob was recognized for orchestrating the award-winning Best Original Song from “The Greatest Showman,” entitled “This is Me.” This continues to be the number one album of 2018 in over 48 countries.
Mathes served as the Music Director for the Kennedy Center Honors and has also been the musical director of the Songwriters Hall of Fame show in NYC for 14 years, and his long list of work continues as a composer/arranger.
On Tuesday, April 10, the USF School of Creative Arts invites the surrounding community to join them for a public lecture: “An Evening with Rob Mathes.” Rob will talk more about his artistic background, the music and entertainment industry, and will also answer questions from aspiring artists and music lovers alike. This event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Historic Woman’s Club in the USF Business Center, 826 Ewing Street, and is free and open to the public.
