Linn Maxwell To Perform "Hildegard of Bingen" One-Woman Play
The University of Saint Francis will host mezzo soprano Linn Maxwell in a one-woman play that highlights the life and music of St. Hildegard of Bingen in “Hildegard of Bingen and the Living Light” on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 3:00 PM in North Campus Auditorium at the University of Saint Francis.
In the person of Hildegard, Linn Maxwell relates some episodes from Hildegard’s life interspersed with excerpts from Hildegard’s music. An accomplished musician, she not only sings soaring melodies but also accompanies herself, playing on replicas of medieval musical instruments. On the Monday after the performance she will visit and speak with USF students in classes such as "Philosophy of Art and Beauty," a class being offered this semester by the Department of Philosophy and Theology.
