Cougar Classic raises $75,000 for student-athlete scholarships

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis Busse/Fabini Cougar Classic golf outing raised $75,000 for student-athlete scholarships, thanks to strong support from alumni, supporters and friends.

Golfers gathered for the 11th annual outing on Aug. 5 at Bridgewater Golf Club in Auburn, Indiana.

“Coming out of the 11th Annual Busse/Fabini Cougar Classic, I continue to be amazed at the response we receive year in and year out from our alumni, friends and supporters,” USF Athletic Director Mike McCaffrey said. “It was another great two days. Many student-athletes will benefit from the generosity displayed.”

The New York Life team won the tournament, which featured a full field of 36 teams. Two golfers—USF alumnus Tyler Gregory and USF Athletic Director Mike McCaffrey—recorded a hole-in-one. USF alumnus Bryce Turner won the long drive award. The event also included a party on Aug. 4, featuring silent and live auctions at the Keith Busse Corvette Museum. Eddie Merlot’s and Five Star Distributing provided food and drink.
