Art Education - Secondary Education
Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts Education (secondary, 9-12 licensure)
The Art Education program emphasizes studio practice as well as teaching practice in secondary school settings. In addition to our state-of-the-art facilities and experienced professional faculty, the Art Education program provides:

- Opportunities to study abroad
Program highlights
At the University of Saint Francis, Art Education students are members of the Art Education Society, a student chapter of the National Art Education Association and the Indiana Art Education Association. Activities include participation in:
- state and national conferences
- on-campus and community activities
- the Annual Foundation for Art and Music in Elementary Education (FAME) Arts Festival
- Scholastic Art Competitions
Art Education students also have multiple field experiences in a variety of public and private secondary schools to fully prepare for teaching. Unlike many other Art Education programs, at the University of Saint Francis you will have the opportunity to work in school settings your very first year.
Teaching opportunities also include:
- The Saturday Morning Art Program - children's weekend art classes for grades 1 through 8
- Art in the Morning - children's summer art classes for grades 1 through 6
- Pre-College Summer Art Academy - a high school summer art academy for students in grades 9 through 12
- Jesters - a performing arts troupe and visual art program for children and young adults with special needs
