Living Nativity

As Advent begins, join us for the Living Nativity at USF, Sunday, December 8 at 6 p.m. Celebrated by members of the university community, this event bears witness to the power and presence of God’s love incarnate in the world. It follows the tradition of a Christmas crèche, which began in 1223 on a mountain near the Italian town of Greccio, when Francis of Assisi led a group of villagers at Midnight Mass in recalling the poverty and humility of Christ’s birth by re-enacting the first Christmas.

The character of Saint Francis will narrate the Christmas story as it unfolds, and all gathered will sing “Silent Night.”

A petting zoo with the Living Nativity animals will be available for children, free of charge, from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. at the event site, which is the amphitheater next to the Pope John Paul II Center. There is no admission charge for the Living Nativity and parking is available off Leesburg Road.
