JOB SUMMARY: With consultation of the Philosophy Course Coordinator, this adjunct faculty member is responsible for the instruction of philosophy courses. As curricular design supports the university’s mission, candidates should be trained or conversant in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
The College of Arts, Sciences, and Business offers a number of degrees and programs in the areas of:
- Behavioral & Social Sciences
- Biology
- Chemistry & Mathematics
- Education
- English, History, & Political Science
- Philosophy & Theology
Adjuncts are contracted on a semester-by-semester, class-by-class basis. Schedules vary based on the needs of the department.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Adheres to all applicable university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs
- Respects the moral and religious beliefs of the university and students; uses discretion when expressing personal beliefs and views
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Masters or graduate degree in the field of study required.
- Doctorate or terminal degree preferred.
- Specific programs may have further qualifications to comply with accreditation requirements
Experience
- One to two year’s teaching or training experience preferred, experience in higher education preferred
- Two to three year’s professional experience within the field preferred
- Specific programs may have further qualifications to comply with accreditation requirements
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods and evaluation technique and use of technology utilized in higher education in a classroom setting.
- Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents.
