USF teams with area colleges on 2,000 Easter baskets for children

Students and staff from the University of Saint Francis, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, Grace College, Indiana Wesleyan, Huntington University, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, Manchester College, Trine University and Indiana Tech collected 2,000 donated Easter baskets and delivered them on April 19 to youngsters served by SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect). "If you can get reach children and families early on in their lives and give them good parenting skills, then abuse and neglect can be diminished drastically," said SCAN's Pat Pruis.

SCAN's Healthy Families program has a 99 percent success rate in keeping children from becoming victims.
