1970s

Mary Yoder (BSE '74, MSE '76) received the "Lighting of Learning" award from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend at a celebration during “Catholic Schools” week on Jan. 29, 2013. This award honors outstanding teachers in the Catholic School system. Mary is a teacher at St. Mary School in Avilla, Ind.

Alice (Bockey) Rumschlag (BSE '75, MSE '84) received the "Lighting of Learning" award from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend at a celebration during “Catholic Schools” week on Jan. 29, 2013. This award honors outstanding teachers in the Catholic School system. Alice is a teacher at St. John the Baptist School in New Haven, Ind.

Laura (Lewark) Ramsey (BBA ’88) is the controller at the Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults.

1990s

Andy Deatrick (BA '92) was recently named Northwest Allen County School's "Teacher of the Year for 2012." Andy works at Carroll High School and is a science teacher. He has been a teacher for 20 years, and has been at Carroll since 2008.

Erin Rahrig (MBA '93) received the "Lighting of Learning" award from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend at a celebration during “Catholic Schools” week on Jan. 29, 2013. This award honors outstanding teachers in the Catholic School system. Erin is a teacher at St. Vincent de Paul in Fort Wayne, Ind.

2000s

Kurt Homan (BSE '02) received the "Lighting of Learning" award from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend at a celebration during “Catholic Schools” week on Jan. 29, 2013. This award honors outstanding teachers in the Catholic School system. Kurt is a teacher at Queen of Angels in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Matt Luke (BBA '02) and his wife Olivia are proud parents of their first child, Broderick Gage Luke, born on Dec. 7, 2012.

Chad Rose (BSE '02, MSE '05) accepted a position as an assistant professor of special education at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Department of Special Education.

Marlon A. Cantillan (BA '03) is the human resources graphic designer at Mandalay Bay, as of Jan. 16, 2013. He has updated his career position of LinkedIn.

Nick Yack (BBA '03, MBA '06) was promoted to vice president at PNC Bank. His role is that of relationship manager in Corporate & Institutional Banking.

Tyler Johnson, DO (BS '05) has moved back to Fort Wayne, Ind. and is working in the emergency department at Parkview Regional Medical Center as an emergency physician.

Jillian (Paschke) Oakley (BA '08) and her husband Matthew welcomed their first daughter, Athena Delaney, on Jan. 8, 2013.

2010s

Brittany (Smith) Shoemaker (ASN '10) married Kris Shoemaker on Oct. 6, 2012.

Quinn Doan (BBA '13) is currently the human resources generalist at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Nichole Grabek (ASN '13) is working at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Crown Point, Ind. as a CNA nurse extern.

In Memoriam

Diana Sullivan (BSN ’86) passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago. Born in Fort Wayne, Diana began her ministry of teaching and healing as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, caring for the sick for 15 years. She founded St. Joseph's Wound Care Unit. Inspired to teach the art of healing and caring to others, she then taught nursing at Lutheran College of Health Professions and the University of Saint Francis for 18 years. Diana was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and especially cherished the time with her grandchildren. Diana also enjoyed expressing herself through art, painting, scrap booking, and yoga. She was very spiritual and maintained a practice of daily meditation and contemplation on her oneness with God and His Love. She had tremendous inner strength from the wisdom and insights of her continuous study of A Course In Miracles and was a living example of Christ's light in the world. Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years, Stephen E. Sullivan of Fort Wayne; daughters, Maria (Jay) Scott of Valrico, Fla., Cathy (Joseph) Klemencic of Powder Springs, Ga. and Stephanie Sullivan of Gurnee, Ill.; her precious grandchildren, Ethan and Erin Klemencic; sister, Joan (Paul) Shive of Grand Island, Fla.; and brother, Steven (Ume) Sutton of Tigard, Ore. She was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Frances Sutton, and brother, H.L. Sutton.

Marcia A. Klug (DP 1954) of Fort Wayne died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Heritage Park Health Care Center. Born June 5, 1933 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Adele Schmidt. Marcia retired as office nurse from Dr. Garland Anderson's office, and previously taught the practical nursing program at Fort Wayne Community Schools. She started her career as a nurse at Lutheran Hospital, where she had graduated from the Hospital School of Nursing. Marcia was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughter, Vicki Lynn (Milad) Khouli of Fort Wayne, and grandsons, Dr. Michael Khouli of Indianapolis and Gabriel Khouli of Covington, Ga. Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, in January 2012.
