Prince of Paradox Takes the Stage

Be prepared for an entertaining evening as nationally renowned historical impersonator Dr. John "Chuck" Chalberg presents "An Evening with G. K. Chesterton," 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 in the North Campus Auditorium.

Chalberg, a professor of history at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn., will appear as turn-of-the-century British writer and social critic Gilbert Keith (G. K.) Chesterton, who was known as the "prince of paradox."

Career Fair at IPFW - 4.11.2012

NICE Expo Coming Soon

If you're looking for a great job fair, this is it. The Northeastern Indiana Career Employment (NICE) Expo will be held 1-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 11 in the IPFW Grand Ballroom on the IPFW campus, Fort Wayne.

The NICE Expo is open to students and alumni of any accredited college and university, and there's no charge for admittance. Employers will be on hand at the job fair to discuss internship and full-time employment opportunities.

Hosting the event are the following eight accredited colleges and universities: the University of Saint Francis, Grace College, Huntington University, Indiana Tech, IPFW, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, Manchester College and Trine University. The NICE Expo has been the leading job fair in northeastern Indiana for 21 years.

4th Annual Formula for Life 5k Run/Walk - 4.15.2012

USF Runs to End Hunger

Here's your chance to get some great exercise outdoors with friends and family, and benefit a worthwhile cause — all at the same time. It's USF's 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk and Silent Auction, 1 p.m., Sunday, April 15.

All proceeds of the "Run to End Hunger" event will go to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage in Haiti, supporting the mission of Formula for Life, which is "to improve the nutrition of poor and sick infants of Haiti." The organization provides powdered infant formula to "vulnerable, malnourished Haitian life."

Your entry in the 5K Run/Walk can do more good than you might realize. To put it simply, one entry equals 36 meals for Haitian children. So, please considering turning out for this wonderful event.

Entries are $15 per person or $12 for a family of three or more members. Registration for the Run/Walk will take place at Hutzell Athletic Center. If you have any questions, please contact aobringer@sf.edu or pedroak@cougars.sf.edu.

Jars of Clay, Spring Concert, sponsored by Campus Ministry - 4.18.2012

Jars of Clay to Perform at USF Spring Concert

Get ready to rock with the Grammy-winning Christian rock band Jars of Clay Wednesday, April 18 at the USF Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St., downtown Fort Wayne. Jars of Clay will headline the multi-band show, sponsored by USF's Campus Ministry as part of the university's Spring Fling Week.

Performing before Jars of Clay will be special guests Leagues and Matthew Perryman Jones, who are touring nationally with the band this spring. Opening the concert will be local bands State Line City and The Good Confession.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the music starts at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. General admission tickets are $10 through itickets.com or $15 at the door. The concert is free to USF faculty, staff and students with university ID.

Focus on Health Fair - 4.20.2012

Time Again for Focus on Health Fair

USF's annual Focus on Health Fair will take place 7:30 a.m.-noon, Friday, April 20 at the University of Saint Francis' North Campus. The fair is held on campus each spring in collaboration with the two-week, multi-site community event organized by Focus on Health.

The fair is open to the public and offers low-cost blood work, 12 health screenings and over 40 exhibitors of community programs. In addition, there will be opportunities for student involvement in health education and wellness-related topics.

Future of Nursing - 4.26.2012

All About the Future of Nursing

Join fellow healthcare professionals and students for an informative and engaging program on the future of nursing. "The Future of Nursing: Local, State and National Perspectives" will be presented 2-4 p.m., Thursday, April 26 at the USF Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St., downtown Fort Wayne.

The program will begin with a presentation of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nursing Research Study on The Future of Nursing. Following the presentation will be a panel discussion by chief nursing officers and other statewide healthcare professionals. They will discuss the impact of the study's findings on healthcare locally and across the state.

After the panel discussion has concluded, there will be a demonstration by students interacting on stage with METIman, a patient simulator. The demonstration is designed to show the future of healthcare training and patient safety today.

An application has been submitted to the Indiana State Nurses Association (ISNA) for approval of 2 contact hours. ISNA is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Nursing Grads to Hold April Reunion

If you're a St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing graduate, you won't want to miss the 2012 All Years Reunion, Friday, April 27 at the University of Saint Francis' North Campus. The celebration includes a cash bar, which opens at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Hosted by the Class of 1963, the 2012 Reunion offers an opportunity for all graduating classes of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing to catch up with their classmates and enjoy a great evening of fun together. During the course of the evening, the Class of 1962 will be honored.

SOCA Master's Program Exhibition This Spring

The School of Creative Arts will offer its SOCA Master's Program Exhibition, April 14 to May 4. The exhibition, which is part of the SOCA Student Art Exhibition, will showcase highlights of work by students who are currently pursuing a master's degree in art at the University of Saint Francis.

Alumni Event Takes in the TinCaps

This Alumni Family Event is perfect for all ages. So, pack up your family and swing over to Parkview Field Saturday, June 9 for a TinCaps baseball game.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m., with great food (30 mins. prior to game, end of 1st inning, end of 3rd inning, and end of 5th inning) and seating available in the Treetops Rooftop party area which is located directly down the right-field foul line. This unique seating area is modeled after the famous fixtures in the outfield at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. This area provides a unique vantage point to take in all the baseball action. And don't forget about all the pre-game entertainment and spectacular post-game fireworks.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children and you may register by sending payment to the University of Saint Francis, Alumni Office, 2701 Spring Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808. Not Too Early to Plan for Homecoming 2012

Make plans to come home this fall. That's right — Homecoming 2012 is happening Friday, Sept. 21 through Saturday, Sept. 22. The weekend will include a host of events and activities. Here are just a few: the Alumni Award and Athletic Hall of Fame dinner, Classes without Quizzes, the Cougar Spirit 5K Run/Walk, alumni athletic activities, lunch at the Alumni Tent and dinner at Hutzell Athletic Center.

So, be sure to mark Homecoming weekend on your calendar now. And start making plans to attend!
