Julie Scher (BA '80) is owner and media director of Scher Maihem Publishing Media Group.

Karen Lohmuller (BSE '81, MSE '87) won the 2012 "Light of Learning" award presented to teachers in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend who have been recognized for their positive impact on Catholic education.

Michael Gasparini (MBA '85) was recently named vice president of clinical services/chief operating officer at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Mo.

1990's

Shannon Corson (BBA '93) graduated in December from Brevard Community College with a post-secondary adult vocational certificate in medical assisting with honors and is a Phi Theta Kappa member.

Jenevieve (Sablan) Ooka (BA '97) is co-founder and principal of Big Fish Creative, Guam. She is a founding member of the newly formed Guam Chapter of the American Marketing Association, overseeing communications as chairperson. Jen was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Guam Educational Radio Foundation (KPRG, Public Radio Guam) and serves as a newly appointed member of the Board of Directors of the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency. She is also an active member of Soroptimist International of Guam and serves on the Guam Visitor's Bureau Membership Committee.

Penny (Saborsky) Ferguson (BSE '99) gave birth to Molly Elizabeth on Sept. 13, 2011. Wyatt (6) and Mitchell (4) are wonderful big brothers.

Justin Johnson (BA '99) is having a two-person show with Tim McIntyre (SOCA Woodshop Director) at First Presbyterian Church Art Gallery through April 8, 2012. Over 80 current works will be on display by both artists. For details, visit: www.firstpres-fw.org. In the fall, Johnson will also have a solo exhibition of his works with a public lecture at Adrian College, Adrian, Mich.

2000's

Shelley (Borchelt) Halter (AS '01) and husband, Gary, welcomed a daughter on July 28, 2011. Abigail Renee Halter weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 21 1/4 inches long.

Michelle (Pray) Boroff (BSE '02, MSE '07) gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Jackson Edward, on March 12. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Silas "James" McGhee (BS '02) holds a Master of Arts in preaching and New Testament from the Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tenn. Prior to joining Franciscan St. Francis Health, he was employed by Logistics Health Incorporated in LaCross, Wis., where he screened post-deployment military personnel for health and psychological conditions. He previously worked for Urology of Indiana as a physician assistant where he assisted in surgical procedures and consulted with patients in their established treatment plans and procedures.

Jim is a board-certified physician assistant. He is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider for the American Heart Association and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Christian Medical and Dental Association, and Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants.

Charity (Richardson) Middleton (BBA '02, MBA '05) recently started working with North Eastern Group Realty as a realtor.

James Bettcher (BBA '03) will join the Indianapolis Colts staff as assistant to the head coach/defensive assistant. He was previously at New Hampshire as their linebackers' coach.

Ryan Bolyn (BLS '03) head women's softball coach, secured his 100th win with a team victory on Sunday, March 25, 2012 against Siena Heights University.

Elias Galvan (BSE '05) was recently promoted to supervising caseworker at Easter Seals ARC. Elias has worked there for two and a half years, serving adults with developmental disabilities, getting his clients acclimated into their community and following their accomplishments.

John Gensic (BS '05) is a lead teacher at University of Notre Dame, which consists of conducting research in environmental science and biology courses during the summer and helping maintain relationships between graduate students and K-12 classrooms. He is also a teacher at New Prairie United School Corporation.

Nick Gonzalez (BBA '06) is a project manager for NeuroFocus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nielsen, which is the global leader in neurological testing for consumer research.

Cassie (Haines) Koch (BBA '06) is currently working as a career services specialist at ITT Technical Institute.

David Stevens (BA '06) graduated with a master's in computer animation from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, May 2011.

Ashlee (McClure) Haney (AS '07, BS '07) gave birth to her third daughter, Aubrey Elizabeth, on Sept. 13, 2011. The baby weighed six pounds, four ounces. She joins sisters Addison (3) and Emma (1). Ashlee is a physical therapist assistant at American Senior Communities.

Jovan Jeftich (BA '07) received his Master of Science degree in recreational sports administration from Indiana University in Bloomington. In addition to graduating, Jovan recently completed his third season as the assistant women's soccer coach at Saint Mary-of-the Woods College located in Terre Haute, Ind.

Chivonn Keppeler (BSE '07) recently became engaged to Dennis Quist on Jan. 28. Chivonn is currently working at Montpelier Exempted Village Schools as a special education teacher. Her fiancé is a Michigan State University graduate who is currently teaching chemistry at Delta College in Bay City, Mich. Their wedding is set for July 28, 2012.

Cam Smith (BLS '07) recently was named co-founder/COO for Smith Academy for Excellence (SAFE) Boys School in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Michael Bechill (BS '08) is a fourth-year pre-doctoral Fellow at the University of Toledo, studying in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology Infection, Immunity and Transplantation (IIT).

Abby (Demetre) Leaders (ASN '08) recently accepted a position at Cross Country Travel Corps/Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Calif., as a cardiovascular ICU RN and travel staff RN.

Kristin Guss (BSE '09) recently relocated to Columbus, Ohio to work for Southeast, INC as a community psychiatric supportive treatment staff member on the justice team.

Mitchell McAfoose (BBA '09) is an inside sales representative at airWorx Construction Equipment & Supply in Fort Wayne, Ind.

2010's

Ashley Bartol (BA '10) recently moved to accept employment in Chicago.

Jennifer Fisher (MBA '10) graduate retention program manager for The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, was one of the local individuals recognized at The Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly 40 Under 40 Awards.

Katelyn Jacquay-Daniels (BA '10) is pursuing a JD/MHA degree from Saint Louis University. She has a summer internship lined up at Covidien (subsidiary of Tyco) in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Carl Jylland-Halverson (MA '10) has been promoted from associate professor to professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Saint Francis.

John Osterman (BA '11) currently works at Lowe's Home Improvement in the Fort Wayne, Ind. area as a customer service associate.

Alex Sprungle (BA '11) is currently working for Asher Agency as an art director. He is responsible for Ivy Tech Community College, Eddie Merlot restaurants and other clients.

Emily Wilder (AS '11) is currently working at Parkview Health as a radiologic technologist.

Rebecca Beaver (AS '12) is currently working at BF Goodrich in Woodburn, Ind. as a health center manager.

Cindy Boettcher (MSE '12) is currently a special education teacher in East Allen County Schools.

Joyce Johnson (ASN '12) is currently working at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett, Ind. as their director of nursing.

Laura (Haynes) Moffat (ASN '12) is a registered nurse — heart failure stepdown at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
